Plastic Pollution
The Plastic Pollution Crisis: Why Action Can't Wait
28 September 2026 · 6 min read
Millions of tonnes of plastic enter our oceans every year. Here is what that means for communities, wildlife and the economy.
Plastic has transformed modern life, but the way we dispose of it has created one of the defining environmental challenges of our time.
Most plastic ever produced still exists in some form. Much of it ends up in landfills, open dumps, drains and, eventually, rivers and oceans, where it breaks into microplastics that enter food chains.
In fast-growing cities, the problem is visible every day: blocked drains that cause flooding, littered streets, and beaches covered in bottles and sachets.
The good news is that plastic waste is also a resource. With the right collection systems and recycling technology, it can become new products and even clean fuel. That is the mission behind ECOPLASOIL.
